Web Marketing & Content Manager, Forcht Group
At first, it was really hard for me to write radio commercials since I don't listen to them because of satellite. Always up for a challenge, I dove in and gave it my all. Now, I can say that I am a "pro" at writing radio ads! This is one of the many new-to-me tasks that I have gotten to do since starting work at Forcht Group. My favorite thing to do, though, is to brainstorm new marketing campaigns for our bank and our retail store. It's a lot of fun to work with a team to come up with an overall concept, write the copy and design the end products. Working for a smaller company has allowed me to have a lot more input into our marketing campaigns. The team is in the process of redesigning all of the company's websites. We've done the following so far:Co-founder, Chica and Jo, LLC.
Go visit www.ChicaAndJo.com right now and then come back. I promise I will wait for you.
Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed your visit to Chica and Jo. I knew you would. That site is a complete labor of love. Chica and I started it a couple of years ago at the suggestion of one of our friends. He told us we should write down how we do a lot of the fun projects we come up with, and share them with everyone. Okay, sounds like a good idea! That's how it started.
Now we are happy to say that we have a large library of projects and a fantastic base of readers we love dearly. We've met some famous people and we have crawled up the Alexa.com rankings to around 36,000 the last time I checked.
It's so exciting to be part of such an enthusiastic online community and to see something succeed that started from a crazy idea. Actually, a lot of our best ideas come from random brainstorming sessions. You wouldn't believe how we get to our final projects sometimes!
Marketing and Communications Specialist, IBM
I started at IBM as an intern doing technical writing. They loved me so much, they offered me a full-time position while I was in graduate school and I jumped at the chance to join Big Blue. I spent the first couple of years continuing with technical writing, then decided I was ready for another challenge. Since I was so good at organizing and planning, I went into project management for a short time. I still use what I learned from my project management classes and work experience. I have to say, I don't miss Microsoft Project!
I moved on to communications work and marketing for the asset commercialization sector and then for the internet security division. I had finally found my career groove and was thoroughly enjoying my day-to-day work until I was unfortunately downsized. I miss working for Big Blue, and it set the bar high for other companies.

In my free time, I enjoy puttering in my craft room, taking my naughty Haflinger, Hagrid, on a drive with the cart, and watching really bad reality television. I can't help it, it's truly an addiction. I also enjoy traveling. Well, I enjoy the being there part. I am rather terrified of the whole airplane thing.
Sappily, my husband is my hero. He is far too good for me, but I try not to tell him that. He really is the best dad to our two girls. He plays weird make-believe games like "Rapunzel" and "Push Me Off the Couch." I don't ask, I just enjoy the uncontrollable giggling.
The older one, who is eight, is going to tour the world as a singing gymnast. The younger one, although only four, is surely going to rule the world her sister is touring. That kid is quite the force of nature. I am trying very hard to keep my flying phobia away from them.
